I was a carpenter for the first 15 years of my working life, and a damn good one I might add. But as luck would have it, construction took its toll on my body. I used to consider myself fairly healthy, and even though I have never been a large person, I could always carry more than anyone on any of my crews. I would run circles around most of the other guys and I always got more work done with less mistakes. What thanks did I get? Back surgery and workforce retraining WooHoo.
So now I have a computer science degree - a wallet full of certifications, a huge student loan and I still can't get a friggin job because nobody on the face of this f*** up planet thinks an ex-carpenter is worth hiring. Sometimes I get so fed up with corporate mentality - Its no wonder people go off on rampages.
